Black Friday โ€” What's Actually Worth Buying

We don't do a countdown timer or a fake original price. Our bundles are permanently cheaper per item than buying singly, which is the actual discount, and it's there in March too.

So instead of a sale page, here's the honest version: what's genuinely worth buying if you're shopping this week, and what to skip.

The short version

  • We do not raise prices in October to discount them in November โ€” if a price looks the same as it did in August, that is because it is.
  • The genuine saving is in the bundles, which are permanently cheaper per item than buying the same things singly.
  • Buy on Black Friday only if you were going to buy anyway. A discount on something unwanted is not a saving.
  • If you are buying ahead for Christmas and cannot decide, a gift card defers the choice without the delivery deadline.

What we'd actually give

How our Black Friday pricing actually works

The standard retail manoeuvre is to lift prices quietly through October so that November's discount is measured against a number nobody ever paid. We do not do that, and the easiest way to check is to look at the same product on an archive of the site from two months earlier.

What we do instead is straightforward: the bundles are cheaper per item than the singles, permanently, because packing three plushies into one parcel costs us less than packing three parcels. That saving exists in June as well. Black Friday is simply when people are looking.

What is worth buying, and what is not

We would rather tell you which of our own products do not suit you than sell you the wrong one and handle the return. So, plainly:

Worth it for most people
The charm pair. Two charms cost less than two singles, and having a matching one to give away is most of the appeal. It is the most-bought thing we sell for a reason.
Worth it if you have more than one child
The three-plushie bundle. Not because of the discount, but because sharing a comfort object between siblings reliably fails.
Overkill for a household
The six-piece set. It is priced for a classroom or a large extended family. If you are buying for one or two children, you are paying for four you do not need.
The best first purchase
The affirmation card deck, under $25. If you are not yet sure whether this kind of thing suits your family, find out cheaply before committing to a plushie.

Buying ahead for Christmas in November

There is a real argument for buying in late November rather than December, and it has nothing to do with price. December delivery in Singapore gets slower every year, international shipping becomes genuinely unpredictable, and the things people actually want sell out in the last fortnight rather than the first.

The risk of buying early is guessing wrong five weeks out. A gift card removes that risk entirely and still lets you finish your shopping in November โ€” and letting someone pick their own comfort object is not a cop-out, it is how attachment works.

A note on sales pressure and children

Black Friday is built on urgency, and urgency is unpleasant to be inside. If you have found yourself buying things at 11pm because a timer said to, that is the mechanism working as designed rather than a personal failing.

It is also worth knowing that children absorb this. A household that spends late November in a state of acquisitive anxiety teaches something about how to handle wanting things, and it is not the lesson most parents would choose. The countdown on this page exists so you do not miss a delivery date. It is not there to make you hurry.

Before you decide

The gift matters less than the thinking behind it. These are the pieces people find most useful.

Black Friday questions

Do you run Black Friday discounts?
Not in the usual sense. Our bundles are permanently priced lower per item than buying singly, and we'd rather that were true all year than run a week of theatrical markdowns against inflated original prices.
Is it worth buying now for Christmas?
If you already know what you want, yes โ€” it avoids the December delivery crunch. If you don't, a gift card removes the guessing and there's no rush.
What shouldn't I buy?
Don't buy a six-pack for two children. Don't buy a comfort object as a surprise for a child old enough to have opinions โ€” the one they choose gets used and the one you chose sits on a shelf. And if you're new to this, start with the cards rather than a bundle.
When's the last order date for Christmas delivery?
18 December for standard delivery within Singapore. International orders should go by the end of November.
Do you run discounts at other times of year?
Rarely, and never deeper than the bundle pricing that already exists year-round. If you miss Black Friday you have not missed much โ€” the per-item price of a bundle in February is the same as it is in November.
Will the price drop further closer to Christmas?
No. We do not cut prices in December, partly because it would be unfair to everyone who bought in November and partly because stock of the popular colours does not last that long anyway.
Can I return something bought during a sale?
Yes, on the same terms as anything else. Sale items are not final sale โ€” see our returns page for the window and the condition requirements.
