One day, one feeling
The day as grateful saw it
10 fluffs stand for grateful in the Fluffdex, and all 10 of them were there that day. Here is what it was, from inside each of them. Grateful grows into Empathy.

Buddy's Day
sorted fifty-five fluffs into pairs with nobody left over, and got two of them out of the counting before it reached them
Knowing everybody's name is not a small social knack. It is how I get to mend a thing quietly, before it has happened to anybody.

Chatty's Day
carried two quiet things across the land before anybody else could have
Two fluffs handed me something quiet today and I had it where it needed to be inside four minutes. I am not the noise in this land. I am the post.

Gladly's Day
counted what Market Row still had, and stood on a bucket at four o'clock and said the other number
I have been told my whole life that I look on the bright side. Today I had to climb on a bucket and do it on purpose, out loud, to a yard that did not want to hear it, and those are not the same thing at all.

Handy's Day
eight jobs before sunrise, eleven hooks by mid-morning, and eleven minutes of sitting down
I have never in my life heard a no that did not break something. Nopsy said four of them on Market Row this afternoon and everybody stayed friends. I am going to practise.

Hushy's Day
heard the one syllable nobody else caught, and then said it out loud to somebody who could move
Hearing it is the part I am good at. Saying it is the part that costs me something, and it is the part that actually moves.

Lovey's Day
made Handy sit down, and said one true good thing about myself on a wall where fluffs could hear it
I got Handy off that ladder in about four seconds and it took me the whole walk to the wall to say one true thing about myself. I am still enormously faster at other people.

Mendy's Day
patched nine split lanterns, and stopped a fluff apologising for something that had not happened
Oopsy taught me that order years ago and today I had to say it back to him word for word. We all know the thing we cannot do for ourselves.

Pinky's Day
handed out the jobs for the whole land, and nearly refused the only one anybody asked me for
I handed out fifty-four jobs today. The only one I nearly got wrong was the one that somebody asked me for.

Sharey's Day
divided a third of a can of oil between fifty-five lanterns, and carried half a sandwich up a hill
The spoonful I took up to the orchard was not about oil at all. Sometimes the fair share is the one nobody can measure, and I should stop pretending those ones are an accident.

Snuggs' Day
bought eleven blankets that everybody laughed at, and handed out every one of them
Three fluffs laughed at me in a shop this afternoon and every one of those blankets went out at six o'clock. I am going to keep buying the blankets.
